Özet (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the birth and postpartum parameters of large for gestational age (LGA) babies and mothers who were delivered in our clinic between 2014-2018 and their complications during observation. Material – Method: In this study, mothers who gave birth babies who are LGA in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dicle University, Faculty of Medicine, between January 2014 and December 2018 were evaluated retrospectively. A total of 399 patients were evaluated in this study patients with hydrops fetalis were not included in the study. Demographic characteristics of the patients, pregnancy and infant data, mode of delivery (vaginal delivery / cesarian section delivery) and cesarian section indications of cesarean section were evaluated. The data in this study were obtained from the hospital's electronic patient information archive database, patient files and surgical notes. Findings: The mean age of the patients was 32,34±6,63, the gravida was 5,16±2,65 and the parity was 3,55±2,36. The gestational age of the patients was 37,12±2,84 weeks and the birth weight of the babies was 3922,46±643,546 gr. Among the infants, male gender was found to be % 60,4 (241) and female gender was found to be % 39,3 (158). Diabetes was detected in % 28,5, polyhydroamniosis in % 11,3, placental invasion anomaly in % 4 and preeclampsia in % 9. When the delivery type of the patients was evaluated, it was found that % 83,7 (334) patients underwent cesarean section delivery and the most frequent cesarean indication was % 55,3 (184). When the complications were evaluated; % 3,25 (13) patients had complications during delivery. Fetal anomaly was found in the baby of % 4,8 (19) patients and hydrocephalus anomaly was the most common. It was found that % 5,01 (20) patients were intrauterine mort fetalis. When the LGA birth rate is examined, it is found that the distribution is similar by years. % 52.6 (210) of the patient's baby was found to be 4000 gr and above. Result: The rate of diabetes, one of the most maternal causes of LGA infant incidence, was found to be consistent with the literature. In terms of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, all pregnant women should be included in screening programs and diabetes should be screened and pregnant women diagnosed with diabetes should be treated with strict blood sugar monitoring. Although the LGA birth rate has increased in years in the literature, it was found to be similar in our study. Macrosomic fetuses constitute the majority of LGA babies in accordance with the literature. It is possible to reduce maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality in patients with LGA who cannot be prevented despite all tests and treatments. Key words: Large for gestational age, Diabetes, Macrosomia
