Abstract (EN)

Due to the incidence and high death rate, cancer is one of the important health problems together with environmental carcinogenic factors today. Canceris the most frequently seen in females. Chemotherapeutic agents such as cyclophosphamide and doxorubicin were administered for the cancers seen in females. Previous studies indicated that these chemotherapeutic agents had an evident effect in germ cells. Vitamin D prevents apopthoszisys of cells by both inhibiting angiogenesis and proliferative effect. The effect of vitamin D on the damage of ovarium tissue by Cyclophosphamide and doxorubicin is not known yet. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effects of vitamin D on the changes in the functions and tissue of rat ovarium tissue of cyclophosphamide and doxorubicin administration. 36 female rats were used in the study. The rats were divided into six groups including 6 rats each: control group, doxorubicin group, doxorubicin plus vitamin D group, cyclophosphamide group, cyclophosphamide plus vitamin D group and vitamin D group. All rats were decapitated under anesthesia after the experiments. Ovarium tissues were immediately extracted and histopathologic sections were prepared and ovarium reserves were examined. Whereas ovarium reserve was found good in control and vitamin D groups, decrease was observed in the ovarium reserves of the other groups. The max decrease was seen in cyclophosphamide group. As a result it was seen that substantial dose of vitamine D had no preventive effect on cytotoxic effect of cyclophosphamide and doxorubicin.
