Abstract (EN)
In this master's thesis, it is aimed to determine the fabric porosity or cover factor ratio by image processing method. For this purpose, algorithms developed were programmed using Matlab software and the porosity ratio was determined. In the study, fabric images were taken from the microscope by magnifying 15 times. The images taken in RGB format were first converted to gray and then black and white formats, and matrices to be used in the calculations were created. The porosity ratio was determined as the ratio of the light-transmitting parts of the image to the total area. This ratio was transferred to the software as the ratio of the number of pixels with a value of 0 and 1 to the total number of pixels in the image. The software porosity ratio calculations were first tested by finding the black line areas of a A4 paper containing black areas. After verifying the correct operation of the software with this test, the studies to determine the porosity ratio with the software developed were applied to 14 different fabric constractions and the results were obtained. In the evaluation of the results, firstly the porosity ratios calculated with Matlab and the calculated cover factor and prosity ratios were compared. It was found that as the fabric cover factor increased, the retorned by image processing decreased and a correct correlation was found between the measured and calculated values.
