ABSTRACT Master Thesis THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT FERTILISATION SOLUTIONS AND TREATMENT TIMES ON THE FERTHJSED EGGS OF CARP (Cyprinus carpio L.1758) Ayşe Gül HARLIO?LU Fırat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Fish Production and Breeding 2002, Page: 23 In this study, the eggs sperm mixture of carp (Cyprinus carpiö) obtained from artificial fertilisation was washed by four different solutions for different time periods in order to remove the stickness of the eggs and to increase the rate of fertilisation. It was observed that the rate of fertilised eggs was 91.87%, 97.14% and 98.47%; the rate of unfertilised eggs was 8.13%, 2.86% and 1.53%; and the rate of eyes stage eggs was 13.23%, 66.36% and 68.13% respectively for the eggs stirred with urea-salt (30 g urea - 40 g salt - 10 L water) and tannin 1 solution (5 g tannin - 10 L water) for 30, 60 and 90 minutes. Those of urea-salt and tannin 2 solution (10 g tannin - 10 L water) were 96.24%, 96.93% and 98.10% for fertilisation rate, and 15.83%, 63.36% and 65.3% for eyes stage egg rates respectively for 30, 60 and 90 minutes stirring time. In addition to these, it was found that the rate of fertilised eggs was 71%, 96.50% and 98%; the rate of unfertilised eggs was 29%, 3.50% and 1.90%; and the rate of eyes stage eggs was 2.56%, 58.76% and 63.90% respectively for the eggs stirred with urea-salt and tannin 3 solution (15 g tannin - 10 L water) for 30, 60 and 90 minutes. In the use of milk powder solution (20 g milk powder - 4 g salt - 1 L water) for 30, 45, 60 and 80 minutes, the rate of fertilised eggs was 93.30%, 92.04%, 96.54% and 93.54%; the rate of unfertilised eggs was 6.70%, 7.96%, 3.46% and 6.46%; and the rate of eyes stage egg was 10.50%, 36.66%, 31.30% and 32.16% respectively. In addition, in the use of milk solution (1 L milk - 1.5 g/L salt - 5 L water) for 60 minute it was found that the rate of fertilised eggs was 98.10%, the rate of unfertilised eggs was 1.90% and the rate of eyes stage egg 60.7% respectively. Key words: Carp, Cyprinus carpio, reproduction, fertilisation, fertilising solution
