Abstract (EN)

In this study, the behavior of small-scale model foundations resting on sandy soils improved by geogrid reinforcement under cyclic loads was investigated with the help of experimental and numerical analysis. Circle, square and rectangular foundations were preferred as model foundations. In cyclic loading experiments, the effect on bearing capacity was investigated by varying the number of reinforcement layers from 1 to 4. In addition, the laboratory experimental setup was modeled with PLAXIS 2D computer software that is based on the finite element method and the behavior of circular foundations on reinforced soils under cyclic loads was analyzed numerically. Experimental and numerical analysis results were compared and the compatibility between them was investigated. Based on the experimental and numerical analysis results, it has been observed that the bearing capacity and settlement behavior of soil structures subject to cyclic loading can be improved by using geogrid reinforcements.
