Özet (EN)

The developments, which took place between Turkey and Greece throughout World War I, have been of great importance for both countries. Before World War I, there were some unsolvable problems between these countries. Then, the war broke out and the situation got worse. The purpose of this research is to clear up the unresolvable disagreements and problems between two countries in accordance with the media of the time. The Islands Problem, the Immigration problem and the problem of dreadnoughts which were purchased by both countries to strengthen their fleet were among such problems. In terms of the Islands Problem, the Great Powers took a series of decisions and announced them. But, Turkey disagreed with the decisions on the grounds that they are against its national interests. As a result, all these developments resulted in a struggle for domination over the Aegean Sea between the countries of Turkey and Greece. In those times, the dreadnoughts were of great importance for the both country. To strengthen their fleet, they made purchases of dreadnoughts from England, France and U.S.A. Meanwhile, Turkey went through a bad experience. Turkey gave an order for two dreadnoughts, ?Sultan Osman? and ?Reşadiye? to England and paid their prices before the delivery date. However, England imposed embargo on the dreadnoughts and rejected to deliver them. In the meantime, Greece purchased two dreadnoughts, ?İdahu? and ?Missisipi? from U.S.A and strengthened its fleet. Turkey protested the embargo but England didn?t take any steps backward. The Immigration Problem was another issue which caused a tension between Turkey and Greece. As a result of the pressure applied by Greece on the Turkish and Muslim public who lived in Macedonia, people of the region immigrated to Turkey and other places.Such developments which took place between Turkey and Greece before World War I negatively affected the relations between two countries. The tension between these countries continued to increase after the war broke out.Key Words:1- Turkey2- Turkey and Greek3- The Immigrant Problem4- The Island Problem5- The Aegean Sea
