Özet (EN)

The most important point on the construction of a building is the obtaining enough and true information about soil which was used to construction of a building. The earth has been exposed to different permanent effects so that the changes have been occurred on the structure of soils. One of the reasons of these changes especially in the winter seasons is freezing based on the different of the night and day?s temperatures. After the freezing stage the melting of soil and continuing this situation in a cycle position based on the time especially in the cold regions that are experiencing thefreeze thaw event could be caused some problems on the buildings. In this study, some engineering properties of soil exposed freezing thawing has been investigated. In this concept, the changes of some soil parameters such as water content of soil, specific gravity, limit values, properties of consolidation, analysis of sieve, and three axis compressive strength were experimentally investigated in laboratory. For this aim, examples has been taken from soil about 1m and 2 m depth according to TS 1901 and the properties of samples, without any exposure to freezing and thawing, has been determined and also the properties of these sample have been determined according to TS EN 1367-1 after exposed to freezing and thawingBy comparing of the obtained results with each one, the situation of the interaction between building and soil in the freezing thawing conditions have been as multi variety investigated for some parameters pointed out above. As a result, it was seen that the decrease occurred on the water contests of the limit values of soil and the soil lost of the plastics properties and based on this situation there is no any crouch observed on the soil. On the soil classification, according to the grain sizes; before freezing thawing while the class of soil was silty-clay, gravel and sand for 1 m depth, and for 2 m dept the class of soil was gravel-sand after the freezing thawing the class of soil turned to silt-clay for 1 m dept and gravel-sand for 2 m dept. According to the triangle classification of soil, while the class of soil was grave-sand-silt-clay for 1 m dept after the freezing thawing the soil class turned to gravel-sand. However, while the soil class was gravel-sand for 2 m dept after the freezing thawing the soil class turned to gravel-silt-sand. According to the AASHO classification method of soil, while the class of soil was silt-sand for 1 m dept after the freezing thawing the soil class turned to silt-sand-gravel. However, while the soil class was sand-gravel for 2 m dept after the freezing thawing the soil class turned to silt-sand. According to the USCS classification method of soil, while the class of soil was bad-graded silt-sand for 1 m dept after the freezing thawing the class of soil turned to bad-graded clay-silt-sand. However, while the soil class was well-graded sand for 2 m dept after the freezing thawing the soil class turned to well-graded clay-sand. According to the consolidation experiments, while the settlement has been increased about 15% for 1 m dept this ratio has been released as 38% after the freezing thawing for 2 m dept. On the three axis pressure strength experiment, while the coefficient of cohesion (c) has been decreased about 41,24 % for 1 m dept after freezing thawing this ratio has been decreased as 42,86% after the freezing thawing for 2 m dept and again while the internal friction angle has been decreased about 1,51 % for 1 m dept after freezing thawing this ratio has been decreased as 0,34% after the freezing thawing for 2 m dept.
