Effects of drama ducation supported cooperative learning activities on the communication skills of 5?6 years old children

This experimental study was done to explore the effects of drama supported cooperative learning activities on the communication skills (oral, non-oral, communication conflicts, including politeness) of 5?6 years old students in education. This research was performed on two preschool classes of official primary schools in Karpuzlu town of Aydın in the 2nd part 2007-2008 education period. The research is performed on 21 students in two control groups that of experimental and control groups. It was continued for 8 weeks. The lessons in experimental group was given as activities of drama supported cooperative learning, and the lessons in control group was given as multiple intelligence activities in preschool curriculum. In experimental and control groups, ?A Scale of Communication Skills? was applied as pretest-posttest by the researcher. As statistical technique, independent groups t-test was used on the pretest-posttest points obtained from communication skills criterion, in the research. Suggestiveness level is assumed as p<0.5 in the analysis.In conclusion, meaningful differences was observed in favor of the experimental group in terms of total points in avoiding skills of oral-communication obstacles - low measurements. It is also observed that there is no meaningful differences in the aspect of total points in politeness-including communication skills low measurements.KEYWORDS: Cooperative Learning, Drama in Education, Communication Skills, A Scale of Communication Skills, Preschool Education.
