The effects of the drama method on the skills of narrative writing in the fifth grade students

Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of drama method on the quality of writing in the fifth grade students. This research has been designed as an experimental study. According to this pupose, one experimental and one control group, each of which includes 25 students attending the fifth grade of primary school have been formed. Narrative writing cirriculum has been prepared by the researcher. In first 10 min, subject of day with experimental and control group was determined. After determing subject proses. Control group immediatly has written narrative which it takes during 30 min. Betide, after drama activity was done by experimental group has also started to writing narrative that it takes 30 min. Writing two group assessed the quality of writing using a narrative writing scale. The Narrative Writing Scale which assessed for this study combines Holistic and Analytic scoring. Data hve been processed by using t test analysis. Findings indicated that narrative writing quality of the experimental ( Drama ) group has significiantly higher than that of the control group.Key Words: Drama, Drama in Education, Narrative Writing, Writing, Story Telling
