Abstract (EN)

The performance-based plastic design (PBPD) method is a powerful and practical method that takes into account the mechanism state and target offset at the beginning of the design phase. In this study, Deformation Based Design Method, which is one of the two basic approaches for the design of structural systems under the effect of earthquakes in TBDY-2018, and the PBPD method were compared. For the comparison of the methods, two building models with 5 and 10 floors, the carrier system of which consists of an eccentric braced steel frame, were used. After the buildings were designed separately with these two methods, their performances were evaluated and compared with non-linear dynamic analysis in the time history and constant single-mode pushover analysis.
