Abstract (EN)
The effect of extrinsic rewards expectancy on motivation is one of the most enduring debates in organizational research. There has been conflicting approaches dealing with this effect. The theories about reward and motivation can be placed into two groups. The first group advocates the use of extrinsic rewards to enhance motivation. These theories threat motivation as "effort" or "performance" and the level of motivation increases through increased effort or performance. The second group suggests that extrinsic rewards reduce intrinsic motivation. According to the these theories, individuals attribute their behaviors to extrinsic rewards rather than the task itself. For this reason the level of their intrinsic motivation reduces. Self-determination theory proposes that motivation is divided into six types as amotivation, extrinsic regulation, introjected regulation, identified regulation, integrated regulation and intrinsic motivation according to their quality. In this frame, this study has been conducted to investigate how the extrinsic reward expectancy affects the motivation types.
