Özet (EN)

Ovarian cancer is considered among the deadliest cancers in women in many co-untries. Since current chemotherapy methods are insufficient, new treatment methods are being investigated and the discovery of new drugs is vital. Angiogenesis is a phy-siological process that involves the growth of new blood vessels from pre-existing vessels. The discovery of the role of aniogenesis in tumorigenesis and metastasis has provided dance for new antiangiogenic therapies. Duloxetine, used as an antidepressant, is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake in-hibitor and is a frequently prescribed drug for the treatment of depression in cancer patients. In this thesis study, the cell proliferation inhibitory effect of duloxetine on SKOV-3 (ovarian cancer cell line) and HUVEC (endothelial cells obtained from hu-man umbilical cord vein) cells was evaluated by MTT and ROS tests, which are mi-tochondrial activity tests, and its cytotoxic effect was evaluated by lactate dehydroge-nase (LDH) tests. ) test and its effect on angiogenesis was investigated by tube forma-tion experiment using HUVEC cells. According to MTT, LDH and ROS test results, it was observed that duloxetine had a dose- and time-dependent effect on SKOV-3 and HU-VEC cells and disrupted tube formation in HUVEC cells.
