Ancient Uyghur manuscripts of the 9th and 10th centuries found in Dunhuang cave

This thesis study, consists of textual fragments from Old Uyghur Literature, encompassing religious, commercial, and various other content. Our study is primarily based on the publication titled "Manuscrits Ouïgours du IXe-Xe siècle de Touen-Houang" edited by J. Hamilton in 1986. This work consists of selected manuscripts from that publication. The study is divided into seven chapters. The "Introduction" chapter provides information on the research topic, purpose, significance, and limitations. Under the heading "Uyghurs and the Dunhuang Region" (Chapter 2), details about the Uyghurs, the Dunhuang Region, the Mogao Caves, and the Library Cave are presented. Additionally, the discovery of the fragments, their paper quality, calligraphy, and previous studies conducted on the fragments are discussed. "The Methodology" chapter (Chapter 3) includes information about the research methodology, Old Uyghur manuscripts examined in the research, characteristics of the script and language in the text, methods used for transcription and transliteration, the method employed for translation into Turkic, the methodology for preparing the index and glossary, and the method followed for the facsimile section. In the "Text and Translation into Turkic" chapter (Chapter 4), information about the manuscript is provided, followed by the transcription and transliteration of the script, and the translation of the work. The "Annotations" chapter (Chapter 5) examines almost all the words included in the study. The explanations of the text are divided into three sections: Buddhist terms, Manichaean terms, and the conceptual value of the words. The "Index" chapter (Chapter 6) consists of an alphabetical and grammatical listing of the words used in the work under the title "Grammatical Dictionary Index." "The Conclusion" chapter (Chapter 7) summarizes the findings of the study. In addition to these chapters, the facsimile section includes reproductions of all the texts used in the study, presented in the same order as in the text.
