Situational leadership theory and study of the leader types in the management level of land forces

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the leadership manners and leadership attitudes of the officers, noncommissioned officers and specialized sergeants who are on duty in the Land Forces Command, and to test the effectiveness of the Fiedler?s situational leadership model in military platform. In the first part of the study it is given place to the basic concepts and explanations about leadership. In the second part three approaches, ?leader?s features approach,? ?behavioral approach? and ?situational leadership approach?, that have been done up to now are discussed and Fiedler?s situational model is dwelled upon. In the third part alternative approaches to leadership are examined. In the fourth part, the application part of the study, the aim, scope, assumptions, hypothesizes, used variables, analysis of the data and findings of the study are explained. As a measuring tool Fiedler?s ?least preferred coworker measure? and a questionnaire form was used that is composed of ?leader effectiveness measures? and totally it was applied to 102 leader personnel. According to the findings that were found at the end of the study, there is no relationship between the leadership manner of the military leader personnel and situational variables that affect the leader?s efficiency as anticipated by the Fiedler?s situational leadership theory.
