Using imagery of dreams in ceramic art in parallel with dream, memory and surrealist interpretations

Dream(reverie) is a word that given to a number of events seen during sleep and roots from the Arabic word ''rü, ya'' which means having a vision . Dream is a spiritual event that arises in the mind during sleep and some of it is recorded in memory. The subject of this thesis consists of concept of dream, memory, types of dreams, dream analysis, surrealism, subconscious. Exfensive researches have been made about dream, memory and surrealism. The work of artists who have done surrealistic works with the effect of the subconscious mind have been examined. Finaşly, in this study, original ceramic forms shaped by the subconscious effects created by dreams are given place. Key Words: Dream, Subconscious, Surrealism, Dream Interpretation.
