Investigation of natural convection condensation over the vertical plate

Özet (EN)

In this study we propose a novel cooling and dehumidification strategy with hybrid panel, in which a hybrid panel can be hydronically connected in series with the radiant cooling system. For this purpose, simultaneous heat and mass transfer during the natural free convective condensation of water vapor over the vertical in the presence of non-condensation in real scaled closed room has been investigated numerically and experimentally. Thesis consists of five chapters. In the first chapter, studies that are related to our subject in the literature have been reviewed. Furthermore the purpose and the goals of the study has been explained. In the second chapter, numerical study of heat and mass transfer in free convection has been carried out. In these CFD model which has same boundary conditions with experimental studies, vapour condensation in the presence of non-condensable gas were simulated and simultaneous heat and mass transfer during the natural free convective condensation of water vapor calculated. Condensation amounts and condensation rates have been obtained numerically. In this work, a numerical model was developed using the commercial CFD package ANSYS-FLUENT version 15. In the fourth chapter, experiments have been performed in a conditioned room in Mir Araştırma ve Geliştirme A.Ş. Experiments were conducted for wet conditions (condensation) and dry conditions (non-condensation). Multiple deneys were conducted by varying the temperature of the cold plate average surface temperatures of 10,5, 10,9, 11,3, 12,3 and 14 °C were set on the condensing plate for an initial humidity of 75 % and varying relative humidity ratios of 65 %, 70 %, 75 %, 80 % and 85 % were set to air. For dry cases, average surface temperatures were studied of 11,5-11,7-14,3-14,9 and 17,5°C were set on the plate. Experiments consist of four main parts. In the first part; For each cases condensation rates condensation amounts were evaluated. Obtained transient condensation rates from experiments were compared with the numerical results and analitical calculations. Condesation rates were expressed according to the partial pressure difference of water vapor using the temperatures and humidity ratios of plate surface and outside of boundary layer. In the second part; numerically calculated and measured condensation amounts have been compared. According to the results, the average deviation between numerical calculations and experimental results were avarage %8,9. In the thirth part; using the abtained results of the dry experiments, free convection heat transfer over the vertical plate have been successfully correlated by the equation NuL=9,709xRa0,1854 for the range of 7,78x107
