The relation of thought styles to panic disorder

The aim of this research is to analyze the relation between the mentalities of the people and the panic disorders. Survey model has been used in the research and the invetigation has been made on the situations in which the individuals are. Target population of the research are the people who has been diagnosed to have Panic Disorder in compliance with the DSM V diagnosis criteria. Sample group of the research consist of 75 people who have been selected from this population. Surveys that have been used in this study were ''Catastrophic Cognition Questionnaire'' and ''Symptom Interpretation Questionnaire''. First of all, literature review has been made. Later, data that have been obtained by means of the surveys to reach the findings have been transferred to ibm SPSS 23.0 version and the rest of the study has been completed with the SPSS package program. At the end of the analyzes made, highest correlation has been determined between catastrophic cognition subdimensions and symptom interpreting subdimensions, significant and moderately strong correlation has been determined between physical catastrophies subdimensions and physical attribution. When physical catastrophies subdimension has been examined, it has been seen that the participants in the high physical attribution group, have high physical catastrophic average. When mental catastrophies subdimension has been examined, it has been found that the participants in the high physical attribution group have high mental catastrophic average. When physical catastrophies subdimension has been examined, it has been seen that the participants in the high physical attribution group, have higher physical catasytophic average. The findings obtained in the scope of the study have important place with regards to their contributions to understanding cognitive processes in panic disorder and researches that will be made on the subject in the future.
