An investigation on teaching argumantative texts to primary school second step students

The aim of this study; to examine the quality of the argumentative text in Turkish lesson boks that is being used bysecond step of primary school and evaluate the activities are comprehended the basic fasic features of argumantative textsAccording to this goal; all of Turkish student?s books (work boks, teacher?s quide books) that is being used by second step of primary school in 2007, 2008 education year.Argumantative texts and the activities (aimed to comprehened basic features in these books) are determined.Then, these passages and activities are examined carefully according to quality and quantity.In these researches of the side of quality; fistly a different criterion for each type (included argumentative text) is improve and activities are evaluated according to this criterion.Result of the researches; In Turkish students boks of second step of primary schools, having some problems of choosing argumantative texts and ıt is seen that some some passage couldn?t reflect their type features as possible.As different from old programs in Turkish boks (6. and 7. classes) prepored for new programs don?t take place the studies about the type of passages in an alternative part.It is seen that some passages couldn?t reflect their type features as possible.As different from old programs in Turkish boks (6. and 7. classes) prepored for new programs don?t take place the studies aboutthe type of passages in an alternative part.It is seen that this behavior is right. Because the basic aim is to improve the capability of reading, listening, speaking and writing about Turkish lesson. However, it is noticed that (in these books) as a strategy of reading, it isn?t used while starting the structure of passage.In activities prepared for teaching the basic features of argumantative texts in Second Grade Turkish Student?s Books there are some questions about the topic and the main idea; but the language structure of text, the writer?s points of view and the structure of the text is ignored.In this study it is important to make students learn types of writing and the activities aimed to make students understand types of writing provides a beter understanding of the text itself. To support this idea, example activities to teach types of writing such as essay, article, anecdote, conversation and criticism are developed.
