Abstract (EN)
The main aim of this study is to examine the role of childhood traumas and mindfulness in the prediction of emotion regulation. This study also aims to examine whether the difficulty in emotion regulation differs according to demographic variables (gender, marital status, socio-economic level, family and friend relations, psychological discomfort). In this study, the correlational design one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The sample of the research was selected by online sampling method and a total of 364 people, 272 women and 92 men, who were university students, participated in the research. Most of the participants are women (74.3% ), single (68.9%), and individuals with medium socio -economic level (56.8). Research data were collected with the Socio-demographic Information Form, the Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale, the Childhood Trauma Scale, and the Mindfulness Scale. The obtained data were analyzed with the SPSS program. Independent Samples t-Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance, and Multiple Linear Regression analysis were used to test the hypotheses. According to the results of the regression analysis for the prediction of emotion regulation difficulties; childhood traumas (β = 0, 19, P = ,01) significantly and positively predict the level of emotional dysregulation of university students. Mindfulness levels (β = - .704, P= .00) significantly and negatively predict the level of difficulty in emotion regulation of university students. In addition, the childhood traumas subscale of sexual abuse feeling arrangement your difficulty significant aspect positive direction predicted detection has been (β = .154, p < .05). In addition to this, significant relationships were also reached in the stages of examining the relationship between emotional dysregulation and demographic variables. No significant difference was found between the sociodemographic variables such as gender, education level, socio-economic level variables, and emotional regulation difficulties of the participants. However, it is seen that there is a significant difference between awareness and goals, which are the subscales of the emotion regulation difficulties scale, and gender. It has been determined that emotional dysregulation differs when individuals with psychological disorders are examined in terms of family relationships and friend relationships. In addition, when individuals with psychological disorders are examined in terms of family relations in the subscales of emotion regulation difficulties, such as impulse, goal, and strategy; it was concluded that there were differences in the impulse, goal, awareness, clarity, and strategy subscales, and when friend relation was examined, it was found to differ in the impulse, goal, clarity, and strategy subscales. The results were discussed within the scope of the literature and suggestions were presented.
