The relationship between emotional intelligence and divorce indicators and romantic relationship satisfaction

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research; It is the examination of the relationships between emotional intelligence, divorce indicators and romantic relationship satisfaction. For this purpose, it will be investigated whether there is a significant relationship between the demographic variables (marriage year, number of children, number of siblings, age, monthly income, etc.) and dependent variables (emotional intelligence, divorce indicators and romantic relationship satisfaction). type, family love, age, marriage year, number of children, number of siblings, parental relationship, education level, income level, etc.). In addition, the predictive effects of emotional intelligence and its sub-dimensions on the level of divorce indicators and sub-dimensions, emotional intelligence and its sub-dimensions on the level of relationship satisfaction, divorce indicators and its sub-dimensions on the level of relationship satisfaction will be examined. In the research, the relational screening method was used in accordance with the purpose. The population of the study consists of married participants throughout Turkey, and the sample is comprised of 1702 women and men randomly selected with the appropriate sampling method. The "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher to collect data in the study, the Emotional Intelligence Scale adapted to Turkish by Saltukoğlu, Tok and Tatar to measure the emotional intelligence levels of the married participants, the Divorce Indicators Scale developed by the Method and İlhan to see the divorce risk in the marriage of the participants and the relationship satisfaction. Romantic Relationship Satisfaction Scale, which was developed by Hendrick and adapted into Turkish by Curun, was used to measure it. The data obtained were analyzed with the SPSS program. According to the findings obtained as a result of the statistical analysis, a significant relationship was found between the emotional intelligence and divorce indicator levels of married participants, between emotional intelligence and relationship satisfaction, and between divorce indicators and relationship satisfaction. According to the results of the comparison between groups, emotional intelligence of married participants, divorce indicators and relationship satisfaction differ according to family love, number of siblings, parental relationship, education level, education and income, divorce indicators and relationship satisfaction differ according to the year of marriage and the number of children, emotional intelligence and it was concluded that relationship satisfaction differed according to the age variable and emotional intelligence differed in favor of women according to the gender variable. As a result of linear simple regression analysis, it was found that emotional intelligence significantly predicted divorce indicators and romantic relationship satisfaction, and divorce indicators predicted romantic relationship satisfaction. The data obtained were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature.
