Research of the emotional intelligence effects on employees job satisfactions

Özet (EN)

In this research it is aimed to determine the correlation between job satisfactionand emotional intelligence of the employees who works in the public, private,industry and service establishments and institutions in stanbul and Ankara whichare chosen as target population. 403 employees out of a total 4.729.000 have beensampled from the target population.?The Emotional Intelligence Questionaire? which is originally developed by Bar-On (1997) and later shortened and reorganised by Acar (2001) in Turkey and ?TheJob Satisfaction Questionaire? which is developed by Şahin and Batıgün (1997) areapplied for the sample employees. The obtained data have been analyzed withSPSS 10.0 software. The following are the important findings of this research:The average of employees? emotional intelligence are determined as ?high?level and the average of employees? job satisfaction are determined as ?middle?level.With respect to the employees? sexuality, age, working period, educational leveland working area which are determined as demografic parameters, there aresignificant difference among the job satisfaction levels.With respect to the employees? age and educational level which are determinedas demografic parameters, there are significant difference among the emotionalintelligence levels.A middle level positive and significant correlation has been determined amongemployees? job satisfaction and emotional intelligence levels. In additions to this forall the demografic parameters and their sub groups, a middle level positive andsignificant correlation has been determined among employees? job satisfaction andemotional intelligence levels.A middle level positive and significant correlation has been determined amongemotional intelligence dimensions such as intrapersonal abilities, interpersonalabilities, adaptability, general mood and total job satisfactions. A low level positivecorrelation has been determined between the dimension of stress management andtotal job satisfaction.A middle level positive and significant correlation has been determined amongintrapersonal abilities dimensions of emotional intelligence and all dimensions of jobsatisfactions except the fee. A low level positive correlation has been determinedbetween the fee dimension and intrapersonal abilities dimensions of emotionalintelligence.A low level positive correlation has been determined among interpersonalabilities dimensions of emotional intelligence, fee and physcial conditions dimensionof job satisfactions. But a middle level positive and significant correlation has beendetermined among the other four dimensions of job satisfactions (policies ofmanaging, individual factors, autonomy, interpersonal relations) and interpersonalabilities dimensions of emotional intelligence.A middle level positive and significant correlation has been determined amongadaptability dimension of emotional intelligence, individual factors and autonomydimensions of job satisfactions. A low level positive correlation has been determinedamong the adaptability dimension of emotional intelligence and the other fourdimensions of job satisfactions (policies of managing, physcial conditions, fee andinterpersonal relations).A low level positive correlation has been determined among the all dimension ofjob satisfactions and stress management dimension of emotional intelligence.A low level positive correlation has been determined among the fee andphyscial conditions dimension of job satisfactions and general mood dimension ofemotional intelligence. A middle level positive and significant correlation has beendetermined among general mood dimension of emotional intelligence and the otherfour dimensions of job satisfactions (policies of managing, individual factors,autonomy and interpersonal relations).
