Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study; to examine the effect of emotional intelligence on perceived stress and the relationship between variables. In addition, it was aimed to determine whether the perceived stress and emotional intelligence differ according to personal information variables (gender, age, grade, department, family income level and grade point average). The sample of this study consists of 138 students who voluntarily participated in the study and studied in the departments of Business and Political Science and Public Administration of Fırat University Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences as of 2019/2020 fall semester. In the study, data were collected using a questionnaire method through face-to-face interviews with the participants. The questionnaire form consists of two parts, and the first part consists of questions about the general information of the participants (gender, age, department, grade, family income level and grade point avarage) The scales in the second part are measures perceived stress and emotional intelligence. As a result of the study, it was determined that the perceived stress showed a negative relationship with the appraisal of emotions, which is the sub-dimension of emotional intelligence. Additionally, it was found that the emotional intelligence dimensions had a significant effect on perceived stress. However, it was found that emotional intelligence and perceived stress did not differ according to personal knowledge variables (age, gender, department, grade point average, grade and family income level) of the participants. The study consists of three main sections. In the first part, the concept of stress, the history of the concept of stress, basic concepts of stress, types of stress, sources of stress, the consequences of stress, methods of coping with stress, individual strategies related to stress management, the effect of stress on work life and performance, stress areas and stress related illnesses are mentioned. In the second part titled emotional Intelligence, the definition and history of the concept of emotional intelligence are discussed and models of emotional intelligence are tried to be explained. In addition, this section covers the measurement of emotional intelligence, emotional intelligence in business life, the relationship between cognitive intelligence and emotional intelligence and ways to develop emotional intelligence.
