Özet (EN)
In today's World the energy is an important entity for all countries. The energy requirement increases rapidly due to population growth, industrialization and new demands. On the other hand, fossil fuels which are main energy source of today's world could not be on the rise, in other words, it has been headed towards a point where the sources will be insufficient to meet needs. In recent years, much more researches have been done to meet these energy demands. As a result of this, wide-ranging scientific researches have been done in order to regain existing energy. It is seen that the great majority of energy is consumed in the transportation sector. Because of all these reasons, the researchers put emphasis on internal combustion engines intensively. Approximately % 30 of combustion heat in exhaust gases of internal combustion engines is released as waste heat; therefore, it is important to recuperate this waste heat. In this study, the heat storage system was incorporated into engine exhaust port to store the waste heat consisting of exhaust gas of a diesel engine. The thermal energy storage tank composes of sensible heat storage and latent heat storage unit including material. The heat accumulation system analyses were made thanks to second law of thermodynamic. The experiments were made of 2000 rpm and in the condition of 0 Nm, 50 Nm and 100 Nm and the energy and exergy analyses of the system were formed. Key Words: Thermal energy storage, waste heat recovery, diesel engine, the second law of thermodynamics
