Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the seismic behavior of framed reinforced concrete (RC) structures according to 2007 and 2018 Turkish Seismic Codes by using static pushover analysis method. Due to the ease of implementation of the static pushover analysis method rather than the other performance analysis methods, the seismic performance of the structures can be evaluated in a simpler way while satisfying special conditions related to plan irregularities and modal mass requirements. Herein, the seismic performance of RC buildings with plain reinforcement was evaluated by using the effective stiffness and plastic rotation values that were suggested in previous studies. In structural modeling, the alteration of effective stiffness and plastic rotations due to plain bar implementation and related performance points were evaluated in conjunction with the number of formed plastic hinges. In the conducted analyses, the buildings with plain reinforcement were observed to reach a close performance point with a less plastic hinges and high plastic rotation amounts. This phenomenon was observed to be analogous to flexural cracking behavior of the beams reinforced with plain and deformed rebars. Thus, in this study, more reliable modeling of the performance alterations arising from plain rebar implementation was ensured and the impact of plain rebars in framed RC structures was investigated directly.
