Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to determine the infestation rate, population monitoring and natural enemies of the fall webworm, Hyphantria cunea (Drury) (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae) in the hazelnut orchards of Duzce province. The studies were conducted in 2019. In order to monitor the adult population of H. cunea, Robinson type light trap was installed in the gardens at two different locations, and the butterflies caught in the trap were counted once a week until harvest. It was determined that the pest formed two peaks in June and August and gave two generations per year. In the observations made to determine the rate of contamination of the pest, it was determined that hazelnut orchards were contaminated with pests in all districts except two districts of Duzce province and the rate of contamination was 66,6%. In order to determine the natural enemies of H. cunea for biological control, samples collected from nature were cultured in the laboratory and the individuals emerged were recorded and prepared for identification. As parasitoids of H. cunea, Trichogramma brassicae Bezdenko (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae), Chouioia cunea Yang (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), Baryscapus sp. (Hymenoptera:Eulophidae), Apanteles hyphantriae Riley (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), Hyposoter sp. (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae), Pales pavida Meigen (Diptera: Tachinidae), Exorista larvarum (L.) (Diptera: Tachinidae); Chrysoperla carnea (Steph.) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) and spiders were identified as preadators. Keywords: Biological control, Duzce, Fall webworm, Hazelnut, Hyphantria cunea (Drury)
