Identification and isolation of atypical mycobacteria from drinking and using water in Düzce

Abstract (EN)

All mycobacteria other than Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex are known as non-tuberculous mycobacteria. NTMs are commonly found or can be found in water in the majority of human infections. In this study, the presence of NTM was investigated in the waters where drinking was conducted in the flat zone. For this purpose, 120 different water samples were taken in various municipal water, storage water, spring water and tap water sources in Düzce. Samples were stored in sterile 1 (one) liter containers, measuring the same leakage. They can reach the laboratory in this way, measuring the chlorine and pH of the samples. Later, the decontamination procedure was once again applied to the specimens, and in the apparatus, the seeds were placed in LJ, Middlebrook 7H11 and MGIT mediums with the aid of a sterile device and a sterile syringe. The medium was filled in 5-7 days intervals. The samples were monitored for up to eight weeks in LJ and Middlebrook 7H11 agar media and six weeks in MGIT medium. MGIT mediums that did not produce a reproductive signal at the end of this study were not evaluated. The microorganisms from LJ and Middlebrook 7H11 medium, which show colony formation from the hope signaling MGIT medium, or aside resistance bacteria (ARB) method aside from the presence of microorganisms. Samples without aside resistance staining were evaluated as contaminants. The microorganisms isolated from the genus Escherichia coli are genotypically characterized by molecular methods such as GenoType Mycobacteria CM and GenoType Mycobacteria AS. Nine of the samples were identified as M. fortuitum, three as M. gordonae, three as M. szulgai, two as M. lentiflavum, two as M. chelonae and one as M. pregrinum. As a result, epidemiological studies on the sources of NTM In our country, where we are limited, we are thinking of things that are important for our country as well as our region. The discovery of M. Szulgai from the NTM origins reveals the necessity of carrying out such studies and of multiplying them.
