Determination of female entrepreneurship profile in Düzce

In this study, entrepreneurship; one of the important factors that contributes to social and economic development of the county, has been evaluated in terms of women entrepreneur. In this scope, defining the general profile of the women entrepreneur, determining the problems of them while finding jobs and afterwards and improving the solution suggestions devoted to obviate these problems have been aimed. Research universe consists of 178 women entrepreneur who established business places in Düzce city centre between the years of 2012-2016 with the support of KOSGEB (Presidency of Administration of Developing and Supporting Small and Medium Scale Enterprises). 10 women entrepreneur chosen from the universe via intentional sampling and whom believed to find an answer for the research problem, form the research samples. Qualitative research method was used and data was collected by semi-structured interview. For the analysis of the obtained data, descriptive analysis method was employed. According to the result of the survey, the age of the women entrepreneur, who operate in Düzce city centre, to begin the entrepreneurship activity is generally between 25-35. Women entrepreneur who mostly prefer to operate in service sector, begin the business by establishing small businesses and in the fields of which they are trained. Women entrepreneur who preferred to operate in Düzce, the city where they live, explained that they had big troubles about finding fund. Besides, they explained that they obviated this problem via saving, relatives and lastly loans. It is seen that the participants were interested in entrepreneurship with the aim of improving the social relations along with the economic freedom and working independently. It has seen that the women entrepreneur requested tax discounts, improving the bureaucratic operations, dissemination of the training and consultant supports from the organisations and the authorised personnel that provide support in the stage of beginning and resuming the entrepreneurship operations. It has been denoted that the women entrepreneur who suggest entrepreneurship operation for their fellows, were not subjected to any social discrimination because of being a woman and did not perceive any feeling about this.
