Determining the in-service training needs of administrative staff at Duzce University

This study is aimed to determine in-service training needs of Düzce University administrative staff.The research universe consists of 257 administrative staff who work at administrative units of rectorate, institues, faculties, schools and vocational schools of Düzce University as of November 2011. Whole research universe was included in the research scope, therefore no special sample was chosen. Because whole administrative staff could not be reached, the study was conducted with 215 administrative staff.While collecting data, ?In-service Training Needs of Administrative Staff at Düzce University Survey? which was developed by the researcher was used. The survey has three parts. In the first part rating scale was used. There are 6 items to designate demographic information of the participants. In the second part Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5 was used, which is class of equal interval scale. There are 36 items to designate in-service training needs of participants. Finally in the third part, rating scale was also used. There are 10 items to designate in-service training disciplines which are claimed by the participants.As a result of the study, in accordance with designated sub-dimensions, in-service training needs related with compliance training was determined as moderate. In-service training needs related with professional skills, computer skills and working difficulties were determined at minimal level. In addition, the dimension of gender variable compliance training, age and working department dependent compliance training and computer skills sub-dimensions, the ability to work according to the variable level of education and compliance training subscales showed significant difference. According to the survey significant difference was determined depending on the seniority and working service category variables.Keywords: in-service training, needs analysis, administrative staf
