Investigation of the effects of regular exercise on immune system in experimental animal model

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of exercise on immune system in experimental animal model. Rats were used as experimental animal model. Rats are mainly composed of two groups as young (3-6 months) and elderly (12-24 months). These two groups are Young Obese Carnitine + Exercise Group (YOCEG), Young Obese Exercise Group (YOEG), Young Obese Control Group (YOKG), Elderly Obese Carnitine + Exercise Group (EOKEG), Elderly Obese Exercise Group (EOEG), Elderly Obese Control Group (EOKG) consists of 6 groups. 7 rats were used at the beginning of the study in each group. YOCEG, YOEG, EOKEG and EOEG were given about 30 minutes of swimming exercises three days a week, for 12 weeks. To determine the effects of exercise on the immune system, IL-6, TNF-a from immune system parameters were examined. In addition, weight measurements were made in order to determine the weight changes of rats due to exercise. Measurements were taken 24 hours before, 45 days after the study and 24 hours after the end of the study (Pre-measurement, interim measurement, final measurement). 22 IBM SPPS Statistics 22 "package program was used to evaluate the study data. The appropriateness of the variables to normal distribution was evaluated by Kolmogorov- Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests. Intergroup comparisons were analyzed by One-Way ANOVA LSD Post Hoc test. However, Paired Sample Test was used to determine the difference between the groups, and Lsd and Dunnet tespits T3 tests were used in the binary comparisons.In conclusion, it was found that three months of regular exercise and exercise + L-Carnitine applied to young obese and elderly obese rats in both the young group and the elderly group revealed significant differences between the groups and also between the groups. In other words, regular exercise and regular exercise + L-Carnitine were found to be effective in weight loss in young obese rats and elderly obese rats. In addition, regular exercise and regular exercise + L-Carnitine immunostimulatory protein cells also increased as numerical values on IL-6 and TNF-a but did not create a statistically significant difference as they had very sensitive measurement values.
