YILMAZ, Volkan. Investigation of Digital Game Addiction and Compulsive Sports Consumption Characteristics of E-Sports Players, Master Thesis, Ardahan, 2024. This study aimed to examine "Digital Game Addictions and Compulsive Sports Consumption Characteristics of E-Sports Players". The study group of the research consisted of a total of 504 people over the age of 18, 356 (70.6%) of whom were men and 148 (29.4%) of whom were women. In the research, survey model, which is one of the descriptive research methods, was used. In collecting data, the "Personal Information Form" created by the researcher, the Turkish adaptation study developed by Lemmens et al. (2009), the "Digital Game Addiction Scale" developed by Irmak and Erdoğan (2015) and the Turkish adaptation study developed by Aiken et al. (2018) were used. "Compulsive Sports Consumption Scale" made by Aygün and Çüm (2023) was used. SPSS version 22 package program was used for statistical analysis. Data are presented as mean (mean) and standard deviation (sd). Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used for normal distribution of the data and it was seen that the data was normally distributed. Independent Samples T test (for pairwise comparisons) was used for the variables of gender, marital status, employment status, active sports playing status and digital game playing status, and One Way ANOVA (for more than two comparisons) was used for comparisons of age, educational status, profession, region and game time. test was used. LSD test, one of the post hoc tests, was applied to determine the significant difference between the groups. Pearsan Chi-Square test was used to determine the correlation between the "Digital Game Addiction Scale" and the "Compulsive Sports Consumption Scale" for those that were significant. The Cronbach's Alpha value of the "Digital Game Addiction Scale" of the research was determined as 0.87, and the Cronbach's Alpha value of the "Compulsive Sports Consumption Scale" was determined as 0.94. In the study, the statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05. As a result of the research, in the Independent Samples T test analysis of the Digital Game Addiction Scale; There is a significant difference according to gender (p=0.00), working status (p=0.03) and digital game playing status (p=0.00). In the analysis of the digital game addiction scale with One Way ANOVA test; A significant difference was observed only in the game hour variable (p = 0.00). In the Independent Samples T test analysis of the compulsive sports consumption scale; marital status (p = 0.00), working status (p = 0.00), intermediate level according to active sports (p = 0.00), digital game playing status (p = 0.01) and digital game playing status. A significant difference was observed depending on the condition. In the analysis of the Compulsive Sports Consumption Scale with One Way ANOVA test; A significant difference was observed according to age (p=0.00), profession (p=0.02), and region of residence (p=0.00).
