Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study was first to analyze the validity and reliability of the parental psychological flexibility questionnaire (ppfq) developed by Burke and Moore (2014) to adapt the Turkish version and analyze the demographic characteristics. PPFQ, which was developed to measure parental psychological flexibility, is a 7-point Likert type and consists of 19 items and three subscales. The sample of the study comprises of 627 parents who have kids aged between 9-17 and studying 5,6,7,8,9,10, and 11th grades in Bolu, Turkey. The permissions obtained from authors who had developed the scale and ppfq was first translated into Turkish and back translation was also conducted to investigate the language equivalency. Exploratory factor analysis (efa) and confirmatory factor analysis (cfa) were conducted to test the structure of the scale, criterion-related validity was also tested to analyze how well the scale is related to similar measures, and finally, Cronbach alpha and test-retest reliability analyses were conducted to test the reliability of the ppfq. The mindful parenting scale (mps) and acceptance and action questionnaire- ii (aaq-ii) were used to investigate the test criterion-related validity. As the original version, afa and dfa analyses revealed that ppfq is a 19-item scale with the three subscales in Turkish. As a result of the analysis, ppfq and mps (.45**), ppfq and aaq-ii (.53**) were found to be significantly correlated. The Cronbach alpha of the scale was found to be .78, and the test-retest correlation coefficient was found to be .62 as a result of the reliability analysis. The demographic analysis results revealed that while the parental psychological flexibility did not differ significantly in terms of gender, age, and level of education, parents who work seemed to have a higher level of parental psychological flexibility than those who do not work. The results of this study were discussed in the light of the literature, and recommendations were presented.
