Relationships between parental rearing styles, workplace aggression and gender discrimination against females at workplace

Abstract (EN)

The main aims of this study were to investigate the moderating role of perceived parental influence and parental rearing styles in terms of the association between workplace aggression and gender discrimination at workplace. In line with these aims, the data of this study were collected from teachers of fee-paying schools and public schools working in Ankara and Bolu. The data collected in the study were obtained by easy sampling method. The moderating role of perceived parental influence and parental rearing style has been examined independently. According to the analysis, we can conclude that parental rearing style and perceived parental influence have moderator roles on the relation between workplace aggression and gender discrimination at workplace. Findings of the research have shown that both mother and father's perceived influence on one's decisions about the outside world played a moderator role on the relation between workplace aggression in the obstructionism dimension and gender discrimination in the workplace in the women's working life and marital adjustment dimension. Also, it was determined that the perceived influence of the father on one's decisions about the outside world has a moderator role in the relation between the obstruction dimension of workplace aggression and work that woman 'can' work dimension of workplace discrimination. In addition to these, it was understood that the level of mother acceptance/involvement dimension of parental rearing styles played a moderator role on the relationships between the obstruction dimension of workplace aggression and discrimination against working women dimension of workplace discrimination. Ultimately, we discussed the findings in consideration of relevant literature.
