Comparison of self-perceptions and anxiety levels among 14-18 year-olds with parent-to-parent divorced students aged 14-18 years

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between self-perception and anxiety levels of parents who are divorced and married between 14-18 years of age and to determine the significant differences between various sociodemographic variables and this relationship. The study consists of a sample of 144 people consisting of 70 divorced families aged between 14 and 18 from private schools in Istanbul and 74 non-divorced families. "Self-perception Scale" and "Situational-Trait Anxiety Scale" were applied in the research. We also use the "Personal Information Form" which contains information about the individual and family characteristics of the students. The cronbach's alpha values of the two scales used in the study were calculated and the correlation analysis was applied between the mean values calculated from the scales. Linear regression analysis was used to determine the dependent variable predictor variables obtained from self-esteem scale. According to demographic variables; t test and one way variance analysis were applied. As a result of sociodemographic characteristics and scales analysis, it was found that the self-perception and anxiety levels were inversely proportional, that the girls were more affected by the process of divorce, divorced parents had a higher self-perception level in their children and that their parents increased their education level, it is observed that the number of siblings of children who have become divorced and divorced are also low and that the level of satisfaction with family relations is observed at low levels.
