Effects of education level and professions of parents on success of children?s education and a research

In this study, effects of parents? education levels and professions on success of their children?s education have been researched. By determining in which area parents contributing to success of their children according to parents? education levels, according to their education either in social or sciences field, in other words their field of study, and according to their professions either in science or social field for graduated from high school or university; and by determining how it is changed according to these three variables, and their relations; it is aimed to show how school success of children is affected from those.In the research, methods of Screening and Descriptive Statistics have been used. For this purpose, Effects of Education and Profession of Parents on Success of Children?s Education Questionnaire has been conducted on parents whose children are attending to General High Schools, Anatolian High Schools, Vocational High Schools, Private High Schools resided in Kadıköy District. Survey data have been analyzed in SPSS 10.0 program.As the result of analyses made, it is seen that parents joining into education life of their children, following them, supporting their children when they ask for help do not canalize their children to their own profession areas; and education level of father affects children?s score in school, but education level of mother does not affect it. It is found that children choose mathematics field in high school more often as education level of parent increases, children of mothers graduated from high school choose mathematical ? verbal field, and they choose verbal field as education level decreases. It is concluded that field that parents graduated from affects children?s field choices; that parents can help their children?s verbal lessons whatever their professions are; that they follow children?s education period more strictly; and that all of those affect children?s score in education positively.
