The istishad of poems in the tafsir of Abu Hayyân (Specific to Surat al-Tawba)

The science of the Arabic language, deeply influenced by the revelation of the Qur'an, emerged in the second half of the first century after the Hijra. The reasons behind such a development can be traced to the spread of a phenomenon called lahn (errors in speech) in fasih Arabic, which expresses correct reading and correct understanding of the text. Arab linguists have developed certain methods for the correct understanding of the Qur'an. One of these methods is the consultative method without any doubt. The commentators of the Qur'an used the ancient Arabic poetry, which had certain criteria, to ground the meanings of the verse words and the language rules. In this study, the poetic consultations in Abu Hayyan's al-Bahru'l-muhît were examined in the context of the Surah of Repentance. The interpretation of the words in the verses of the Qur'an and the shirrs used in the linguistic analyses performed; meaning is examined under three headings as reinforcement, syntax and morphology. The logical relationship between the poems and verses that are the subject of the consultation is explained by taking the poems as the center.
