Ebüssuûd Efendi's comments on Esbâb-i Nüzûl (the reasons for descend)

This thesis examines the subject of Ebüssuûd Efendi?s approach to the accounts of reasons for descend in his interpretation called ?İrşâdü?l-Akli?s-Selim ilâ Mezâyâ?l-Kitâbi?l-Kerim? This thesis is comprised of an Introduction and three Sections.In the Introduction the subject and significance of the Research, its purpose and method were explained. In the first section Ebüssuûd Efendi?s life, scientific characteristics, works and interpretations were introduced. Later the definition of Esbâb-ı Nüzûl, how to recognize Esbâb-ı Nüzûl and the importance in knowing esbâb-ı nüzûl were explained. Finally the sources of Ebüssuûd Efendi?s esbâb-ı nüzûl were disclosed.In the second section, the terms that the interpreter uses when introducing esbâb-ı nüzûl and attributions of the accounts were examined. In the third section how and where the interpreter uses esbâb-ı nüzûl and how he assesses the accounts was attempted to be explained. All of these subjects were explained with examples to clarify the approach to the subject of esbâb-ı nüzûl.The thesis was concluded with a summary analysis.
