The examination and determination of the factors of morality and education in the Pendname of Edirneli Nazmi

The aim of our study is to examine and illustrate by determiningeducation and morality respects of didactic work of art in the style of an adviceletter named ?Pend-nâme? written in 16 th century by Edirneli Nazmi, that isof great importance in terms of language, history and literature of Turkish.This work of art, written by Feridüddin Attar in Persian as 900 couplet,has been translated and explained by many poems in Tuırkish literature.Edirneli Nazmi, by considering this work of art as basis, made some additionsinto it and rewrote it as 3000 couplet. While he was writing his work,heexpanded the concepts in the original work in a more detailed way and addedmany instruments from Turkish culture and tradition. After analysing them,certain conclusion were put forward:İn the first chapter, by determining the religious and theosophisticalrespects, we gave information about them.İn the second chapter, the moral points in the work of art weredetermined and the respetcs that a person of then should have or should nothave were found out.İn the third chapter, the determinations of some concepts and wordswere made and detailed information was made thereabout.İn the fourth chapter, on the other hand, the tradations, beliefs andrumors which can not be encountend in such works were determined.İn the conclusion part, a general evalution was made and the commentof it was made in terms of today?s education and moral respects.İt is stated in ?Nazmi Pend-nâme? that the most previous being inuniverse is human and everything is created for humans. According to he, it ishumans who will determine his or her own place and value by himself. İn otherwords, a human has many things that he should in order to make himselfprecious in both worlds.Nazmi proposes for every advice in the work to be read carefully and forthem to transfer these advices into actions. The ?human model? that heproposes should take respects of science, morality, reality, knowledge andmind.
