Abstract (EN)

Objective: This study primarily focuses on investigating the impact of delamination on the structural integrity of laminated glass shells when subjected to initial delamination. To accomplish this objective, a comprehensive mathematical model is developed specifically for laminated glass shell. The model utilizes the principles of the minimum potential energy principle to derive governing equations involving non-linear terms and boundary constraints. Subsequently, the Finite Difference Method (FDM) is employed to discretize the derived governing equations, resulting in a discrete form model. Material and Methods: Minimum potential energy theorem, variational method and finite difference method are used to derive the equation for deflection and stress. To obtain convergency the Successive Over Relaxation Method is applied. Results: Laminated glass shell is a three-dimensional geometrical structure having a thickness much smaller as compared to the other dimensions A laminated glass shell can exhibit nonlinear behavior and can easily undergo huge displacement under its own weight due to its geometry. As a result of the large displacement, the governing equations are based on large deflection theory. Delamination is also recognized as an undesirable condition that causes a significant deterioration in the strength of laminated glass. The results showed that the effect of delamination on strength is also paramount due to its size and location. Conclusion: The mathematical model established in this study offers a practical approach to modelling both delaminated and laminated glass shells.
