The effect of transteorethic model-based smoking cessati̇on education on self-effectiveness, decision-making and nicotine addiction levels in high school students: A randomized controlled experimental research

It was found that 13.3% of the students participating in the study quit smoking. Considering the scores of the students from the Fagerston nicotine addiction scale; While low nicotine addiction was 38.3% in the control group, 5% in the experimental group, high nicotine addiction rate was 35% in the control group and 16.7% in the experimental group. It was determined that the answers given by the students to the Fagerston nicotine addiction scale showed a statistically significant difference compared to the experimental and control groups (χ2=8.958; 𝑝<.05). In our study, while the rate of not thinking was 25% in the control group, it was 0% in the experimental group. While the rate of thinking was 75% in the control group, it was 51.7% in the experimental group. While the preparation rate was 0% in the control group, it was 35% in the experimental group. While the rate of action was 0% in the control group, it was 10% in the experimental group. While the maintenance rate was 0% in the control group, it was 3.3% in the experimental group. It was determined that the answers given by the students to the classification of change scale showed a statistically significant difference compared to the experimental and control groups (χ2=46.579; 𝑝<.05). It was determined that the total score and sub-scores obtained from the self-efficacy scale showed a statistically significant difference compared to the experimental control group (z=-3.148; p<.05). It was determined that the total score and sub-scores obtained from the incentive factors scale showed a statistically significant difference compared to the experimental control group (z=-3.148; p<.05). It was determined that the total scores obtained from the benefits sub-dimension of the decision-making scale showed a statistically significant difference compared to the experimental control group (z=-2,475; p<.05).
