Abstract (EN)
Burning of coal, power plants produce solid waste in the form of slag and fly ash. In recent years there is a great deal of research conducted to reduce the cost of disposal of this waste to minimize the environmental impacts. One of the approaches is convert the fly ashes to zeolites. Synthetic zeolites, which can be obtained in many different ways, have favorable advantages compared to natural zeolites. The most promincut at these advantages are; high ion exchange capacity, wide surface area and high adsorption capacity. In this study, coal fly ash samples obtained from Soma and Yatagan power plants were used in the process of synthesizing zeolite. In an alkali ambient, fusion and hydrothermal treatment were applied for the process. To obtain the best results in synthesizing zeolite, necessary parameters were investigated. The samples obtained from experiments were scanned under electron microscope SEM and XRD. It is established that the products obtained, which are very similar to synthetic zeolite structure, are sodalite. And it is a reason of sodalite formation is noticed.
