The concept of ihsan in terms of education (In the context of the Hadith of Gabriel)

The human being is the entity that strives to examine, explore, and fulfill their purpose of existence. In Islamic religion and its tradition of thought, the concept of ihsan holds a multilayered and profound meaning. This study aims to contribute to education specifically to the theoretical foundations of the discipline by analyzing the concept of ihsan. The research investigates how ihsan might be perceived within the context of education, focusing on the well-known Hadith of Jibril in Islam. The study delves into the etymological roots of the concept of ihsan, its close associations with related terms, and the meanings it conveys in the two primary sources of Islam: the Qur'an and the Hadiths. Definitions of ihsan are evaluated, and its position in Islamic thought is generally discussed by referring to various Islamic scholars' interpretations based on the description of ihsan in the Hadith of Jibril. The meaning of ihsan, its significance in Islamic ethics and thought, and its function in education are highlighted. By analyzing ihsan within the context of the Hadith of Jibril, it is suggested that the concept signifies a process of being or transformation in education. Ihsan is explained as having a deeper meaning beyond the simplistic understanding of performing certain rituals or doing good deeds. The study employs a qualitative method, relying on the detailed analysis, evaluation, and examination of written sources. The Hadith of Jibril, which presents the fundamental principles of Islam, revolves around the questions posed by the Angel Jibril to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the responses provided. In education, the concept of ihsan involves adopting a mindset where all actions, deeds, behaviors, and attitudes encompassing the heart, mind, and body are carried out with the consciousness of acting as if one sees Allah. This perspective is anticipated to provide a foundational layer of meaning in education.
