Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to i) determine the relationship of the elements of tree and shrub species in Turkey with the topics and achievements in the 2018 Science Course Curriculum, ii) determine to what extent the tree and shrub diversity in our country is reflected in the EBA Secondary School Science course contents. Qualitative research was used as a method in the study and document analysis was used as a data collection tool. Documents related to science prepared by the commission established by the Ministry of Education in EBA were examined. First of all, the curriculum was evaluated in terms of elements related to recognizing tree and shrub species, then the tree and shrub species in Turkey were determined, and finally, all course contents of the science course in EBA were analyzed and the frequency of use of tree and shrub components was evaluated. The findings obtained i) There are 105 gymnosperm and 752 angiosperm tree and shrub species in Turkey, ii) Direct gains in the Curriculum for recognizing trees and shrubs are in the 5th grade Living Things and Life subject area and therefore the highest number of items are used in this field. showed that it belongs to the level. When the frequency of use of species was measured, it was determined that the most commonly used tree species was the apple tree, which spreads naturally in our country, and the rose was used as a shrub. It has been observed that among the endemic tree species, Kazdağı fir is the most used, and among the exotic tree species, palm is the most used. No distinction is made between trees and bushes in any of the contents. When the data obtained was evaluated, it was determined that the frequency of use of some species increased due to the use of the same visual elements in different contents, and that no examples were given of some tree species and genera that form forests in our floristically rich country. In developing the EBA content, it was suggested to decision makers to include elements of different tree and shrub species in the content.
