Promoting moral & spiritual literacy in education and training processes: An interdisciplinary perspective

The aim of this study is to present an interdisciplinary perspective on the dissemination of moral and spiritual literacy in education-training processes. Morality is basically a set of values regarding a wide range of behaviors that should be followed. Spirituality can be conceptualized as a personal quest for deep inner understanding and purpose, a connection with the greater good and with wisdom and compassion. Moral and spiritual literacy refers to the ability of individuals to understand, evaluate and develop their inner worlds in the context of moral values. As individuals interact with society, their cultural understandings, sociological definitions, moral criteria, aesthetic views and temperaments emerge. They acquire these values through direct cultural transmission or through the development of literacy skills. In short, moral and spiritual literacy is of great importance in education and training processes. It enables individuals to understand ethical values, adapt them to their inner worlds and use these concepts in daily life. In this study, various issues regarding the spiritual conditioning of moral and ethical values are explained in the light of the Quran and Sunnah. Islamic education plays a role in developing noble character and morality. Islamic education also helps students face moral challenges in the modern age by providing guidance on making ethical decisions based on Islamic principles. Islamic education also plays an important role in building the spiritual resilience of the young generation. As a result, this study has presented some phenomenological arguments that may be necessary for the adoption of a literacy that can be developed on the level of moral social norms, especially in educational institutions and all institutions, in order to spread the personality of an individual, what kind of factors play a role in determining the consciousness of the individual, what kind of life the individual lives by being affected by what kind of factors within the current educational paradigm, and for the adoption of a sustainable educational - pedagogical - conjuncture by establishing a healthy individual social ontology by adhering to social, ethical and moral rules that can be adopted both in Islamic and universal terms.
