Education and social change (in the example of Turkey)

Our study which has the title of 'Education and Social Change (In the Example of Turkey)' required to focus on the affectuation between education and social change as well as concentrate an analizing of education, social change, social development, revolution, evolution, we regardad the education as not only with its changing cheracter but only and mostly its relevent tendency to social change. In this framework, we delved into the changing functional of education and education in response to changings. It was tried to display the influence of education as close relevent concepts of social change, technology, ideology, modernizationand culture and, in this respect, to solve the problematic of relationships between these subject matters in the light of affecting factors of social change. It is seen that the education carried vital importance and a pivot mission in receiving the innovative technical improvements, commensurating the industrialization and modernization attempts and in constituting and tronimitting the culture. Neverthless, exploring and still existing arguments of cultural defering and tampoon institutions were constitutied the concepts which were inferred from this chapter. The persistent defeats in the field of military and collapse in military institutions brougth the agenda some innovations and reforms. In other idiom, inereasingly weakened Ottoman Empire forcet to change and refresh herself against the almighty and strong Europe. Thus, initial Westernization movements was characterized as dichotomy and dilemma under the mentality of Tanzimat period. The researches andtrials of modernization accelerated with the Constitutional Monarchy and these innovative opinions set out the standpoints in establishment of Republic. Newly establish state meant the transformation from reforms to innovations in the period of Republic. At the and of these trials, it wes crystalized not the problems which brought with the establishment but the trials of adaption the mentality lying behind the newly established state. In this respect, the main aim of our study is to explore and examine the drastic changings in passing from the Empire to Republic and eventually cultural changings in Post-Republic Period. This line determines both limitations and the subject matter of our study. Lastly, the literature surveying method was used in bringing out of our study.
