Views of education managers about values education and practices (The example of Ordu province)

The general aim of this study is to reveal the opinions of the education managers working in the basic education schools of the Ministry of National Educaiton about values education and practices.The research is a descriptive study in the scanning model.In this study, mixed method with quantitative and qualitative methods was used.The population of the research consists of the principals and assistant principals in the Ministry of National Education who work in primary schools in the city center of Ordu in 2014-2015 academic year.Inthe quantitative section, maximum diversity method was used from purposive sampling methods depending on the population of research.In this context, the quantitative sample of the study was carried out with 222 education managers (66 principals and 156 assistant principals).In the qualitative part of the research, the sample consisted of managers who were determined on a voluntary basis.In order to collect the quantitative datas in the research, the scale of perceiving value education qualifications of the Education Managers developed by Okudan (2010), was used. Semi structured interview form developed by the researcher was used to obtain qualitative datas. As a result of the research, education managers' perceptions of the value education efficacies are the highest level of organizing the outside school environment, on the other hand the lowest is the size of Coordinating and Executing Decision Processes; According to the opinions of the Educaiton Managers about Values Education and Practices ,it has been concluded that Values Education has a positive effect on the student's behaviour and academic success, Education Managers, family and external environment has significant effect on this education.
