The effect of social activities held in schools on the school climate, according to educators

The purpose of this study; According to the opinions of educators, the aim is to draw attention to the impact of social activities held in schools on the school climate and to develop possible solutions to the current problems in the school climate. The research was conducted within the scope of the phenomenology pattern, one of the qualitative research method patterns. In this research, the study group was formed with the maximum diversity sampling technique within the scope of the purposeful sampling method. In the study, a total of 12 educators from different schools were studied: 3 in kindergarten, 3 in primary school, 3 in secondary school and 3 in high school. The data obtained in the research was obtained using a semi-structured interview form. The data collected during the research process was detailed according to the descriptive analysis method. When the data of the research are analyzed, the participants firstly express their perceptions about the concept of social activity; they defined them as activity, study, activity, participation, action, communication style and study. Participants; social events held in schools; they expressed their activities as trips, games-activities, picnics, museum visits, theatre, music, poetry recitals and book reading. Participants' perceptions of the effects of social activities held in schools on the school climate; they listed these as integration, self-confidence, facilitating learning, prolonging the learning time, escaping from class, indiscipline and belonging. In order to increase the impact of social activities held in schools on the school climate, participants; they made some suggestions such as planning, determining needs, raising awareness through seminars, active role-effective participation, allocating time and extracurriculars. In this context, this research is an important research feature in terms of investigating the effects of social activities held in schools on the school climate and suggesting possible solutions to the current problems in the school climate. In the current research, which is expected to contribute to the literature, some suggestions are presented in order to conduct better quality research in related fields.
