Abstract (EN)

The study was carried out to invastigate the effect of 5 different NaCl salt concentrations (0, 4, 8, 12 and 16 dS m-1) on the germination and early seedling development characteristics of bread wheat mutant advanced lines and parents according to randomized split plots trial design in 3 replicated under invitro conditions. Varieties and salt concentrations were planned to form main and sub-plots. According to the results of the variance analysis performed on the data obtained, the differences between genotype and salt concentration and genotype x salt concentration interaction averages were found to be statistically significant for all examined traits. Although increased salt stress caused a significant extension of the average germination time, it also led to significant decreases in all other traits examined. In the study, germination occurred in wheat genotypes in 16 dS m-1 salt concentration, but no seedling development was observed. The averages varied between 10,0% and 100,0 for germination rate, between 2,07 and 6,66 days for germination time, between 3,09 and 365,65% for seed vigor index, between 16,6-299,3% for salt tolerance index, between 1,00 and 6,33 units for number of roots, between 0,89 and 22,46 cm for root length, between 0,91 and 19,14 cm for shoot length, between 10,00 and 96,66 mg for root fresh weight, between 1,0 and 10,73 mg for root dry weight, between 10,0 and 131,6 mg for shoot fresh weight, between 1,0-13,4 mg for shoot dry weight and between 53,52-95,00 for leaf water content in the study. As a result of the study, it was determined that Sagittario 200/49, Flamura 85 100/60, Flamura 85 300/15, NKÜ Lider 200/7 and NKÜ Lider 200/11 were the mutant advanced lines with the highest performance for the germination and early seedling period salinity tolerance traits examined. Thus, it was concluded that it would be appropriate to include these lines in yield trials as candidate varieties for wheat production areas where salinity is a problem and to use them as germplasm in future salinity improvement studies.
