Abstract (EN)

One of the most important issues in fluid dynamics is undoubtedly to examine flow models that have two phases. Cyclone separators are generally structures with two phases. Although theoretically determining flow parameters is very long and requires a lot of calculation, with the development of computers, analysis with CFD based solutions gives results with much easier, faster and acceptable errors. In this study, the performance parameters of an axial cyclone separator were examined with ANSYS Fluent 19.1, a commercial software based on CFD. The effects of three different axial cyclone separators having one, two and three rounds of spiral numbers on particle collection efficiency and pressure losses at different inlet velocities were analyzed. The analyzes were carried out as single-phase and two-phase and Reynold Stress Model (RSM) was used as the turbulence model. Cyclone models with different helix angles have been designed and studied. According to the results of the analysis, it has been concluded that the velocity and helix angles of the fluid entering the axial cyclone separator have a great influence on the collection efficiency and pressure losses of the cyclone separator. In addition, for the particle from 0.1 µm to 10 µm, these conditions have been observed, the results are compared with equivalent tangential cyclones. This study can help to determine the optimum axial cyclone separator type.
