Development process of exlibris artistry, importance of intercultural interaction and efforts to make it prevalent in Turkey

The purpose of this study is to explain history of exlibris art and its technique via sample art pictures. In addition, institutional structures and organizations will be emphasized in Turkey with intercultural interactions.The function of exslibris is to introduce a book and its author. Moreover, Exslibris art can be seen as way of communication. Distrubiton of these artifacts is a great tradition in many countries. Nowadays, there are many efforts to keep this tradition alive. These artifacts are used for production, collection and as an exchange as well. In order to keep this efforts alive, there are establishment of museums, exibitions, and organization of contest, seminars, and workshops.Exslibris has cultural, historical values and provide a great view of point in terms of different intellectual mindsets for different nations. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to emphasize importance of exslibris art and evaluate the efforts to make it common as well as providing technical and theoretical references for individuals who has an interest on it.Key Words: Exlibris, International Federation of Ex-libris Societies
