Qarafi was born in 626 in Bûş village of Behnesâ region of Egypt. His first education started with his father, Sheikh Idris. After this education he received from his father, he was educated in Sahibiyyah, Kamhiyyah and Fadiliyyah madrasah. He complated most of his education with Izzeddin b. Abdussalam who had nickname Sultanu'l-'ulemâ. He stayed with him about 30 years until his teacher passed away. Besides that İbnu'l-Ḥâcib, Hûnecî, Hüsrevşâhî İbrahim al-Maqdîsî, Sherefuddin al-Fâkihâni Abdolazîm b. Abdolqavî al-Munzirî ve İbn Ebî'l-Fazl el-Mersî Şerîf el-Kerekî are among Qarafi's teachers. He passed away in Cario in 684 and was buried in Qarafah. Qarafi, whose main field is fiqh and usûl al fiqh, has studies outside of these sciences and these studies are about nahw, theology, sects and religions history. Qarafi left three works in the field of Arabic grammar/nahw and according to the contents of these works he left, he followed Basra school among the syntax/nahw schools. It can be said that he was influenced by Fahreddîn ar-Razi in his criticisms of the majority of grammarian's in his works al-Haṣâiṣ. The comments made by ar-Razi about words and parts in his work Mefâtîḥu'l-ġayb are also seen in his work al-Hasais It has been mentioned above that Qarafi left three works on the science of syntax/nahw. In his book al-Hasais, which is one of these works, he criticized the views accepted by he mojority of the grammarians on issues and presented his own view on these issues. In his work called al-İstiğna fi'l-Istisna, he gave rich information about the topic of exception and he touched on the things that can be considered as the first in some subjects. al-Qavaidu's-salasun fi 'ilmi'-arabiyyah is a short work on the Arabic syntax/nahw. In this work, he mentioned and exemplified the short rules related to these sciences.
